PureBasic 5.61 final is out

Post by Fred »

Hello !

- final is out ! Thanks a lot for the testing :)

- beta 2 is out and should fix new MacBook air with touchbar issue and an IDE issue with debug output on Windows

After the 5.45 LTS release, here is the bug fix release for the 5.60 version ! It should includes all fixes from 5.45 and some new 5.60 specific. Don't hesistate to test it as we don't expect any regression, and please tell us if something goes wrong :)

Have fun,

Virus-Warning - suspicious activity detected ...

Post by PureLust »

Hi Fred,

has anything changed on the installation process since v5.60?

When I try to install v5.61 Beta, my Antivirus blocks the installation-process (x86 and x64).
It does not detect the file as a virus if I just scan the File - but it stops and kills the installation as soon as I start it.
So it seems to detect some activities, which he does interpret as illegal operations.

I've tried to install v5.60 (release) and some older Versions again, without any problems.
But installation of v5.61 (beta) will be blocked.

Any Idea what has been changed since v5.60 that could cause the Antivirus to block the installation of v5.61 beta?

Are there any plans to digitally sign install file (and all exes and dlls)? It would probably solve 99.9% of these antivirus problems. Every "serious" software today is digitally signed. When i download something from internet, first thing before installing it i check if it has valid digital signature. If it has not then i only run it in sandboxie with blocked internet access.
Also, i do not use antivirus and i never had any problems with viruses or spyware.

I've disabled activity-analytics and v5.61 is still blocked. So I looked a bit deeper and I think I found it.

It looks like, that it's the new 'Zero-Day-Protection'.
With this new Protection my AntiVirus only accepts known Executeables, to protect against aggressive Encryption-Viruses like WannaCry etc.

If I disable AutoProtection I get the Message, that v5.61 is an unknown Application and I can execute it if I want, while v5.60 is executed without this Message - because it's already known by the AntiVirus-Cloud.

So, I guess anything is fine with v5.61 - it's just my AntiVirus who wants to protect me against ANYTHING UNKNOWN !!!
