GreenForce-Player 1.22

Post by RocketRider »

Hello,

GreenForce-Player is an portable alternative media player, with many additional functions. One of these functions is to protect media files. You can save your audio and video files with a password and protect them against screenshots. An other very interesting function is the coverflow. Last but not least, there is a cache system that is used to reduce usage of your hard disc. This software has been developed for Windows. It was tested with Windows XP, Vista and 7. GFP is easy to use and therefore ideal for beginners. However, there are also advanced functions for professional usage.

I can't get v1.0 portable to d/l from any browser/pc I have, keep getting the following error:

Unauthorized access to downloads!

You tried to start a download from a not authorised resource or your browser do not send a referrer!
If you deactivate the referrer in your browser please activate it in your browser configuration to download the file!

One small request if possible:

Viewable timeline on the playback slider bar would be awesome... :D

Edit:

The installer d/l just fine though.

I also see in the changelog you mentioned new icon sets, but I can't see how to change them ? Still defaulting to green for me. <-- I'm apparently blind now, figured it out

Request for enhancement to Greenforce Player 1.01:

When a video ends that has been playing in full-screen mode, the player should automatically revert to another more compact mode. It looks more 'professional'.

and please use this test version: http://www.file-upload.net/download-261 ... r.zip.html

What explorer plugins have you installed? (SVN, 7zip, Izarc,...)

Ok I will change that.

One suggestion for the website is maybe only having to click on download one time instead of 3 times to actually download the player, kinda like an endurance test now, you really want to d/l it or not... :P

For getting screenshots, the Active option was elementary to defeat (just grab the screen using BitBlt instead of the clipboard). And the way you kept stopping the clipboard from taking screenshots is not user-friendly at all -- I switched to another window to take a shot of another app, and couldn't. Nobody will like that! You don't disable a normal system function on a person's PC just because your app is running. No app is more important than the OS's functionality.

For Extended screenshot disabling, I can see you're using DirectX to play the videos instead, and on my PC all I got was a horrid flickering of the video, making it unwatchable. I use XP. And besides, I could still take screenshots (and even record the output!) of these "protected" videos using Fraps (http://www.fraps.com).

So, no offense, but both your protections are pretty weak. Sorry! Please take this as constructive criticism.
