Chris, I strongly believe anyone on theses forums can see the value in ProGUI, and I really hope we (as a community) are smart enough to understand it's not worth illegally downloading an affordable product... So I think (hope?) it should not impact your sales.

At least you haven't had some bone head asking, on this very thread, "where can I get a free copy of ProGUI?"

I've already created some new mailing list software that digitally signs the source to the user details so it won't happen again hopefully.

Aye, personally I think it's better to have a simple flat API in DLL form that can be used with any language

Whoever released your code I hope you know who it was and also if you do, report them to relevant authorities anyway.

lol yep you missed me being drunk and "going off my rocker". I suspect who it is that released the source but without hard proof all I can do is prevent it from happening again, which I've already done. All new versions of the source will be digitally signed to each user.

Keep in mind that many in the community download simply to test for you and give you feedback.

If you want to be more profitable, you should consider targeting other communities and programming languages and heavily promote (and become active) within those communities.

I am very interested in your product, and will be buying it when finances allow. We are still trying to get out from under my wife's hospital bills, so it may be a long time before I can afford it. Times are tough for a lot of folks right now.

Yes I do understand and appreciate this, that's also why ProGUI can be trialled for as long as you want and only when your software is ready then buy a license (or if you can afford to buy a license sooner).



That's definitely what is needed I think Kuron. Once I've got all my automated build tools working fully (source code translator already working great for PB to AutoIT code) then this is the direction that I will be pushing. Once I get the issues sorted with V1.30 I'll get the new AutoIt and Blitzmax examples updated.

Do you already support C/C++ ? I thought I read somewhere you did, but I've never seen bindings/external files for it..

you'd probably make a lot of headway by supporting it more than the hobbyist languages.

Hey Zach mate, yep you're right - I started writing a C/C++ wrapper a while back but the Major Update has been a priority to get some really good features into ProGUI. I don't even think the wrapper is necessary to be honest but the examples will need to be converted which will take some time (have to program in some new PB to C rules into the source code converter).

Chris would probably be moderatly wealthy by now, if ProGUI would have been available for Unity3D. Many people where waiting for a better GUI system with version 3 but it wasn't really improved enough and too slow. The first person who offered a replacement GUI system, is among the top grossing sellers in the unity store for months now. It is too late now to enter that market, especially since Unity has finally promised to deliver their "new GUI system" and it will likely be released within the next 3 weeks or at least till april 2012 with the version after. But if ProGUI would have been available in a working version several months ago for Unity3D .....

Wasn't on the web yesterday and missed your removed posts, but I get an idea of what has happened, and this really gives me a kick in the guts too.
This internet fraud is bloody well getting out of hand and I reckon it starts from really bad examples from the top level , and is making me a bit shaky considering I need to use it to try and generate income starting next year, mainly related to music stuff, and you know how low that has become.
Considering you are probably going to be making some substantial changes to the code for directX, the privilege that has been abused by that common thief, might not be of too much interest for people anyhow. You would have to be crazy to start using pirated copy of your code, especially in commercial projects, as it would probably be easy for you to check out if an app was developed using it, just by the way the controls work, then check a bit deeper into the order of the assembly.

Anyway sorry to hear about this mate, and I fully understand why you would get very pissed over this sort of crap from such low life people.

Don't publish the source. You can instead pledge to release the source if you decide to stop developing ProGUI, or heaven forbid, something happens to you.

I think this might take some shine off ProGUI, as I like to look into Chris's great coding, so I can better understand how things work, especially the API. This was one of the main reasons that made my mind up to buy.
Perhaps Chris could set up trusted customers database, who are willing to send Chris some sort of signed pledge (contract), with perhaps some personal details, by snail mail, that need to be replied by a real return address with confirmation.
